About 1858 Athletic Club
A Private Gym in Alpharetta Built Around a Better Training Experience
1858 Athletic Club was created around a simple belief: the environment where you train should help you make progress, not get in your way.
Located on North Point Parkway in Alpharetta, Georgia, 1858 is a private, capacity-controlled gym designed for people who value quality equipment, dependable access and a focused place to train. Rather than following the high-volume model common to large commercial gyms, we intentionally limit membership so we can protect the experience inside the facility.
That approach influences everything from the equipment we select to how prospective members join the club. We want 1858 to remain a place where members have room to train, access to the equipment they need and a community that respects the work involved in pursuing individual goals.

Origins
Why We Created 1858
There is no shortage of gyms, but more options do not always lead to a better training experience.
Many people know the frustration of planning a workout only to find a crowded training floor, occupied equipment and an environment where getting through a productive session requires constant compromise. For people who take their training seriously, those small frustrations add up over time.
Sherrie and Justin Tway founded 1858 Athletic Club to offer a different approach.
Instead of measuring success by how many memberships could be sold, 1858 was developed around the quality of the experience members receive once they walk through the door. That meant creating a more intentional membership model, investing in specialized training equipment and building an environment where people can focus on their own progress.
The idea was never to create the biggest gym in Alpharetta. The goal was to create a gym people genuinely value being part of.
Our membership model is one of the most important differences between 1858 and a traditional commercial gym.
High-volume fitness facilities often depend on maintaining large membership numbers. While that model works for many businesses, it can create a very different experience for the person actually trying to train during busy hours.
At 1858, we intentionally control membership capacity.
Limiting membership helps us maintain reasonable access to equipment, preserve space on the training floor and protect the environment members chose when they joined. It also allows us to focus more closely on the quality of the club rather than continuously increasing the number of people using it.
This does not mean every member trains the same way or has the same goals. Our community includes people with different experience levels, schedules and reasons for training. What connects them is an appreciation for a facility where they can train consistently and respect the people sharing that environment with them.
The Floor
Equipment Chosen With Training in Mind
We believe equipment should be selected because of what it adds to the training experience, not simply because it belongs to one recognizable commercial equipment line.
1858 Athletic Club brings together strength and functional training equipment from respected manufacturers, giving members access to a wider range of movement patterns and exercise options. Our facility includes equipment from brands such as PRIME Fitness, Atlantis, Gym80, Rogue Fitness, Nautilus, Glute Builder and Strive, along with other specialized pieces selected for their training value.
For experienced lifters, greater equipment variety can provide more options for exercise selection, progression and targeting specific muscle groups. For members who are still developing their training experience, having access to well-designed equipment creates more opportunities to find movements that fit their individual needs.
We continue to view the equipment floor as an important part of the member experience rather than something that remains static simply because the gym has already opened.
Training on Your Schedule
Your Gym Should Be Available To You
Consistency becomes easier when access to your gym does not depend on a narrow operating schedule.
Eligible 1858 members receive 24/7 facility access, allowing them to train early in the morning, later in the evening or whenever their personal and professional schedules allow.
Around-the-clock access is particularly useful for members whose work, family responsibilities or daily routines make conventional gym hours inconvenient. Combined with our capacity-controlled approach, it gives members greater flexibility without abandoning the private training environment that makes 1858 different.
The goal is straightforward: when you have time to train, your gym should be available to you.
More Than One Way to Train
Different Approaches, One Facility
There is no single training method that works for every person, which is why 1858 supports different approaches within the same facility.
Members who prefer independent training can use our strength equipment, free weights and functional training areas while following their own programming. Those who want a more structured environment can participate in Functional Fitness classes, while personal training is available for individuals who want additional guidance and individualized support.
This flexibility allows members to pursue different goals without forcing everyone into the same definition of fitness.
Some people train to become stronger. Others want to build muscle, improve conditioning, move better or simply remain physically capable as they get older. Those goals may require different approaches, but they all benefit from consistency, appropriate training and an environment that makes both easier to maintain.
The People Behind 1858
Founded by Sherrie and Justin Tway
A facility can have impressive equipment and still fail to create a great gym. The culture, standards and decisions behind the business matter just as much.
Sherrie and Justin Tway founded 1858 around the kind of experience they wanted the club to provide every day: a clean, well-equipped facility where people have the freedom to train seriously without the unnecessary friction associated with overcrowded fitness centers.
Their approach is reflected in the decisions that define 1858 today, including controlled membership, specialized equipment, 24/7 access and an application process that allows the club and prospective members to determine whether the fit makes sense.
As 1858 continues to develop, the objective remains consistent: improve the facility without sacrificing the experience that made members want to join in the first place.
Community
A Community Built Around Individual Progress
Community does not require everyone to have the same goal.
At 1858, members may be following completely different programs, training at different levels and pursuing different outcomes. What creates the community is a shared respect for the facility, the people around them and the effort required to improve.
We want experienced athletes and newer members alike to feel comfortable focusing on their own training without feeling that they need to perform for anyone else in the room.
That creates an environment where progress can remain personal while the training experience is shared.
It is also why we take membership seriously. Maintaining the right culture becomes much harder when growth is pursued without considering how that growth affects the people who are already part of the club.
Membership
Why Membership Starts With an Application
1858 is intentionally different from a gym where anyone can select a plan online and immediately walk through the door.
Prospective members begin by submitting a membership request. From there, qualified applicants may be invited to visit the facility, see the equipment, ask questions and learn more about how the club operates.
The process gives you an opportunity to determine whether 1858 provides the environment you are looking for, while allowing us to maintain the standards and capacity that existing members expect.
There is no benefit in convincing someone to join a gym that does not match what they want. We would rather create the right long-term fit.
